gh
My current distro is Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, so the installation steps are as follows.
curl -fsSL https://cli.github.com/packages/githubcli-archive-keyring.gpg | sudo dd of=/usr/share/keyrings/githubcli-archive-keyring.gpg
echo "deb [arch=$(dpkg --print-architecture) signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/githubcli-archive-keyring.gpg] https://cli.github.com/packages stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/github-cli.list > /dev/null
sudo apt update
sudo apt install gh
Follow whatever option you want for configuration.
Don’t forget to set your default editor to vim
via gh config set editor vim
as it uses nano by default…
To create an issue, navigate to the desired local repository, then run gh issue create --title "Some title" --body "Some body"
.
To create a pull request, run gh pr create
. To see open pull requests, run gh pr list
. To merge a branch (since you can’t review your own PR), run gh pr merge
.
